Prof. Dr. R R Krishnamurthy

Prof. R. R. Krishnamurthy is a distinguished academician, researcher, and higher education leader with over 34 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. Currently serving as Director – Research at Paavai Educational Institutions, Tamil Nadu, he has played a pivotal role in establishing and strengthening institutional research ecosystems, fostering interdisciplinary innovation, and building global academic collaborations.

He previously served as Professor and Head, Department of Applied Geology at the University of Madras, where he also held key leadership roles including Director (Guindy Campus), Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of Students, and Chairman of the School of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences. His contributions extend to national and international advisory bodies, including the International Advisory Board of the University of Aberdeen, UK.

His expertise spans remote sensing, GIS, coastal zone management, disaster risk management, environmental geosciences, and climate resilience. He has an extensive publication record in high-impact journals (Elsevier, Springer, etc.), has edited internationally recognized books, and has received prestigious national and international awards, including Young Scientist recognition and multiple global research funding honors.

Prof. Krishnamurthy continues to contribute significantly to academic governance, research mentorship, policy advisory, and global research collaborations, shaping sustainable and resilient academic and environmental systems.
